Silver price per gram in Switzerland

Follow the silver price and discover how it is calculated relative to USD.

The silver price is expressed in USD per troy ounce on the LBMA market (London Bullion Market Association). To get the price per gram in CHF, the formula is: Price/g (CHF) = (LBMA Price in USD/ozt ÷ 31.1035) × USD/CHF Rate.

Example at the current rate: if silver is at 32 USD an ounce and USD/CHF is at 0.90, the gram is worth (32 ÷ 31.1035) × 0.90 = CHF 0.926/g. For 925‰ silver, multiply by 0.925: CHF 0.857/g.

Watch the VAT: Unlike pure gold, physical silver is subject to Swiss VAT of 7.7% for all purchases. This tax differential is important to integrate when comparing with gold.

The silver price is historically more volatile than gold (volatility ratio of x2 to x3). Movements of ±5% in a single day are frequent, notably during Fed monetary policy announcements or in cases of geopolitical tension.

Price Factors: 50 to 60% of world silver demand is industrial (solar, electronics, medical). The energy transition structurally drives demand upward — a solar panel contains about 20g of silver.
